Claudio Doria, Co-Chair of the European Regional Forum (ERF) of the International Bar Association (IBA), is participating in the working group that the IBA has put in place to collaborate with the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) to consider how the Unidroit’s Principles of International Commercial Contracts can be made more business-focused for legal practitioners.

The working group has compiled a great number of cases from different jurisdictions which can be used as a reference. In addition to Claudio Doria, Alvaro Mateo, partner at Gomez Acebo & Pombo and Communication Officer of the ERF, and Alex Llevat, partner at Roca Junyent and Council Member of the ERF for Spain, are also part of the working group on behalf of the European Forum.

UNIDROIT first published the Principles in 1994 and since then they have influenced the reforms of contract law in many jurisdictions. The Principles are now published in their 2016 edition.
